Scheuten a prizewinner at the Glas Award 2008
Düsseldorf, 23 October 2008 – At the biennial Glas Award 2008 ceremony Scheuten was a double prize-winner, winning the Innovation Award for the development of the Sunrise thin film product, while Kraanspoor, the truly eye-catching building located on the north bank of the IJ in Amsterdam (architects OTH), was also among the winners. The insulated glazing was supplied by Scheuten Glas Hoorn and Venlo. The Glas Award is an initiative of the Glas Branche Organisatie, the umbrella organization of flat glass sector employers with two hundred adherent company members.

Scheuten and NSP extended long term partnership by signing a5-Year solar cell supply contract
Scheuten Solar and Neo Solar Power (NSP, 3576 TT), a leading manufacturer of high quality solar cells, announced signing of a 5-year solar cell supply contract. This new contract, from 2009 to 2013, is a continuing business in addition to the existing two sales contracts. Combining these three contracts, the outstanding contract value awarded to NSP from Scheuten is US$460 million (NT$14.7 billion).

Joint Venture between Scheuten and Ritek enters into the world market for thin film solar cells
Following the strategic agreement on silicon modules signed in August between Scheuten, a leading global solar module manufacturer, and Ritek, leading optical disc and OLED producer, both parties decided to take their cooperation a stage further by signing a joint venture agreement at a “Joint Venture Agreement Signing Ceremony” held at the Sheraton Taipei on 14 October 2008. For the Scheuten Group, Mr. Leon Giesen, CEO, and for Scheuten Solar, CEO Mr. Frans van den Heuvel were signatories of the agreement, while the signatory for the Ritek Group was the CEO, Mr. Gordon Yeh. Scheuten & Ritek will set up a joint venture company to manufacture CIGS thin film solar cells, with an initial capital of NT$ 600 million, each party taking a 50% share holding.

Scheuten Solar @ PVSEC 2008
Scheuten Solar presented a new innovative booth at the PVSEC in Valencia. More than 20.000 visitors from all over the world visited the exhibition and the conference from 1st September - 5th September 2008.
Scheuten announces strategic alliance with Ritek
Today, 11 August 2008, Scheuten has announced the strategic alliance with global leading Taiwanese disc manufacturer Ritek. By combining the knowledge which Ritek has gained over the years in the Optical Media and OLED industry and Scheuten's Solar knowledge, this strong combination will bring solar developments to a higher platform.

Scheuten announces the formal opening of a new division to serve the growing United States market. The division, Scheuten Solar USA will be based in California and will provide the fast-growing market in the U.S. with glass and solar products.

Laying the foundations for a new dimension in float glass manufacture
Following the start of production in August 2009 f | glass will be producing 220.000 tonnes of float glass (flat glass) a year at Sülzetal / Osterweddingen. In addition to
basic (float) glass production, the factory will focus specifically on the manufacture of extra clear glass, which because of its higher light transmission factor can be used for solar modules.

Scheuten is to build a new float glass factory in Germany
Scheuten has announced that a new float glass factory is to be built in Germany. The factory, with a storage and production area of 80,000 m2 and involving an investment of some 190 million euro, will be put up at Osterweddingen in the federal state of Sachsen-Anhalt and will ultimately
provide more than 250 jobs.

New FESTpv research institute

Venlo site choosen for 250 megawatt Sunrise plant
The location for the 250-megawatt factory for Scheuten's new solar cell plant will be in Venlo. Scheuten will invest 150 million euro and will in the coming years create jobs for 500 people. Scheuten is opening the pilot plant on 21 June.

Scheuten supplies special glass for Venlo city bridge
On Wednesday 2 May, Her Majesty the Queen opened the entirely renovated Maasbrug in Venlo. The glass for the railings has been developed and produced by Scheuten.

Sunrise plant opening
The official opening of the Sunrise pilot plant in Venlo will take place on Thursday 21 June 2007. The proposed 2009 site of the 250 MW factory for this technology will also be announced that day.
